So we can better get to know you on your first visit to Dr. Jernigan's office you will notice a few special steps taken.
Your clinical examination is designed to gather important information that will aid us in assessing your dental condition and developing your proper diagnosis. It will include:
- intra and extra oral cancer screening
- a thorough charting of your dentition
- examination for decay
- evaluation of existing dental restorations
- a thorough periodontal (gum) examination with measurements of periodontal pockets and tooth mobility
- examination of your occlusion (how your teeth function and fit together)
- study models when indicated
- digital x-rays
- intra oral photographs
This important appointment is scheduled for 60 minutes and if a consultation is needed it will be scheduled at this appointment. During your consultation appointment financial expectations and consent for treatment will be discussed.
Some patients will experience dental conditions of an emergency nature. A true dental emergency is a broken front tooth, dental trauma, pain (not easing with Tylenol or Advil), swelling, or bleeding. We strive to promptly attend to these situations. Please call our office to arrange the appropriate appointment so we may address your needs. Necessary x-rays and clinical exam will be preformed to properly diagnose your condition. Treatment to alleviate discomfort will be rendered.
